Mads Nybo

Mads Nybo, MD, PhD, is a specialist in Clinical Biochemistry and Chief Physician at Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Odense University Hospital, including counseling, research and education. An important part of this is the preanalytical area, including test management, transportation from GP’s and rational diagnostics. He is former chair of the Danish Society of Clinical Biochemistry.
As Associate Professor, Dr. Nybo is involved in research on biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases, hemostasis and on preanalytical aspects. He is member of the European Working Group on Preanalytical Issues under EFLM and Chair of the NFKK-based Nordic WG on Preanalytical issues.
The last decade, Dr. Nybo has been involved in total lab automation, amongst other by implementing self-driving vehicles for samples collection, installing pick-and place robots for automated sample handling, and lately involved in automated phlebotomy. Also, quality assurance of blood sampling and POCT testing are important areas of focus along with the green agenda, where a number of solutions, including re-use of blood tubes, are under development.
